Hotel Grand Vert Kyu Karuizawa

This is a fantastic hotel; location, service, amenities, and the room were all excellent. The people at the front desk were friendly and very helpful, this applied to literally 5-6 people I had interacted with. The service was great, even after electing not to have our room made up, we came back to fresh waters and towels by the door. The room was spacious and very clean. We had the traditional Japanese room, two double beds with a tatami area, for a family of 4, two kids 11 and 14, there were plenty of space for us. Futons were available for the tatami area which was perfect the kids, and the beds were much softer than the typical hotels in Japan. Separate shower and toilet room, both with sinks, was also very convenient. There’s also a library next to a lounge area with a cozy fireplace and cushy leather chairs and free espresso and drinks. I was able to get some work done without being disturbed as it was very quiet. The hotel is about a 7-8 min leisure walk from the Kariuzawa station, super quiet neighborhood, though it may be because the ski season had virtually ended. It took around 10-15 min walk from the hotel to the outlet shopping area in the south side of the station, which had all of the restaurants. The location was superb, easy to find places to eat and get to the ski resort, a 10 min free bus ride from the outlet area.

The location - very close by to the station. Very walkable. Close to the outlet mall. Ample parking space FOC at hotel property if you rent a car. Car rental is 15 mins walk away. Family Mart directly opposite with just about everything you need especially if you have a family and need stuff. They even have warm inner clothing items during winter.

Breakfast was exceptional and was served in a picnic basket, which was so cute. I wish I could bring the basket home haha. Also, a special shout out to the front office staff, a lady, and a gentleman (sorry, I didn't take down their names, I checked in on 6/3/2024 in the late evening) Thank you for helping to make a police report on my behalf as I was panicking and didn't know what to do. I had lost my wallet at the taxi stand outside the premium outlets. Thankfully someone found the wallet and handed it to the police station.

Hilariously welcoming and complex toilets - so happy to see you every time! The room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were very kind and helpful. They stored our luggage after check out so that we could enjoy our day and let us into our room early on check-in. Great location: walking distance from the train station, shops and restaurants.

The breakfast baskets delivered to the room were cute. Nice experience, quality was OK. I prefer a buffet-style breakfast but this was a pleasant concept. Location is excellent for the station and also for the outlet shopping mall. The 2F lounge with coffee and juice was nice. Free parking and good location to reach other Karuizawa spots by car.
